Managing Virtual Teams
A large portion of the workforce has recently experienced a significant transformation in the way that they work. Only a few months ago, employees had to negotiate working remotely. Now, people are suddenly working from home due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
This abrupt change has put extraordinary pressures and impact on staff and leaders. Combining this unexpected shift with high levels of anxiety and ambiguity, it becomes even more challenging. Furthermore, many are learning how to work virtually which can be a steep learning curve.
Managers may be in a position that they have never been before and feel blinded. It can be quite stressful and some do not know where or how to begin. Those preferring to see their staff physically, may feel that managing remote teams is difficult and dubious.
That being said, these times call for adaptability, flexibility, and crossing the bridge as we build. We don’t know how long this pandemic will last but working remotely may likely continue to be the new norm in the long term. Leaders will definitely need to adapt and acquire new skills and abilities to manage virtual teams.
To help leaders manage remote teams, I have put together a comprehensive document that can help you and provide you with the tips, tools, and tactics to make your team engaged and performing.
